Herbal Medicine

Herbs have been used in human medicine for centuries . More recently, the veterinary community has begun to explore applications of traditional Eastern medicines for dogs and cats.

Dr. Megan Strahlera graduate of the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, prescribes traditional Chinese herbs for pets with a variety of health conditions. Often, herbal medicine complements modern medical treatments, or aids in palliative care for patients with long-term illness that causes pain or discomfort. Additionally, herbs are sometimes indicated as a supplement to routine wellness care for healthy pets.

Herbs can provide valuable benefits in combination with Western medical modalities, often with less worry of side effects or interactions. For this reason, our other doctors frequently consult with Dr. Strahler to incorporate herbal medicine into their own treatment plans.
